Breakdance battle in Yangon calls for contestants

Attention Bboys and Bgirls in Yangon: time to dust off your turtles, jackhammers, backspins, windmills, flares and 1990s. And while you’re at it, work on that top rock.

There’s a battle this weekend.

The Myanmar Street Dance association is holding an open-form competition on Saturday at the Here and Now studio in Tamwe Township, the Myanmar Times reported.

It’s free to attend but costs 3,000 kyats (about $3) for contestants to enter. Anyone who shows up can sign up for the competition, which starts at 3:30pm. There will be one main circle and winners will be selected through elimination rounds.

So maybe it’s time to “break in your new breaks and get your locking and popping rocking,” as the Times amusingly put it, channeling parents everywhere.
