On Saturday, a video capturing two men caught in an aggressive brawl in a moving MRT train was uploaded on Facebook by Mediacorp Radio Ria 89.7FM deejay Dzar Ismail, who claimed to have taken the clip off Twitter.
What started out as a finger-pointing stare-down quickly escalated into physical assault as one man grabbed the t-shirt of the other, resulting in him retaliating. Soon after, the train cabin was mostly emptied out as other commuters hurried out of the way to avoid being collateral damage in the frenzy.
Some vicious pushing action followed, and passengers who remained seated at the ends of the cabin didn’t escape unscathed. It’s unclear how long the fight went on for, as the uploaded video was edited, but after more shirt-pulling, bystanders finally cut in and broke up the fight.
Less than a minute later, the footage ended on a surprisingly light-hearted note (complete with the slap bass tune from Seinfeld), with one young man grinning at the camera while holding back one of the attackers. Dude probably didn’t expect his regular train ride to be so dramatic.
After the video went viral, the police confirmed yesterday that a report was lodged and investigations are currently ongoing, Channel NewsAsia noted.
