Jasmine Sokko is the latest Singaporean artiste to represent the country in a music competition in China, after Nathan Hartono and Joanna Dong went on similar routes.
This time, it is for an electronic music talent competition called Rave Now (即刻电音) which premiered December 1 on video streaming service Tencent Video.
In a video uploaded by Jasmine Sokko on her Instagram account Friday (Dec 14), she is seen wearing full-black garb with a visor on while on the Rave Now stage.
True to her slightly secretive nature as an artiste, Jasmine refuses to take off her visor while on stage, despite being asked to remove it by Rave Now judge, Mandarin artiste Lay Zhang.
“Being a female producer, I hope everyone will focus on my music more than how I look like,” she reasoned to the judges.
“I believe my personality can shine through in my music.”
Jasmine is known for not revealing her face in videos and performances and she said to SCMP Young Post that she wants to be judged by her music instead of living up to expectations in terms of looks.
In her Rave Now video, she is seen performing her song #0000FF which has since racked up more than 700,000 listens on Spotify and 50,000 views on YouTube.

The Rave Now competition is produced by Star China which is behind the Voice of China series and features two other judges, Mandarin artistes Da Zhang Wei and Laure Shang, according to That’s Mags.
Norwegian DJ Alan Walker is set to guest star on the show as a judge as well, according to a tweet from the DJ last month.
Really honored to be one of the judges on the brand new Chinese EDM show – «Rave Now» with my brother @LAY_zhang_ ! I can’t wait to check out the great producers hiding in one of the most exciting music markets at the moment pic.twitter.com/kGH595J5g0

Whatever happens, we are proud of our girl (even Lay Zhang seemed like he enjoyed the performance) and can’t wait to stay tuned to the show to support her and find out how far she makes it.
