In a short clip that’s been circulating social media since last night, a two-minute-long standoff between the police and a man who appeared to be tipsy ended with the civilian being tasered. Reportedly taken in the Everton Park area, the viral video showed the man initially sipping from a canned drink while speaking to the police.
As more officers in blue showed up at the scene, the man’s aggression escalated and he attacked one of them. Reacting in reflex, an officer tried to tase the man but failed. Another used a baton to hit him on the legs, but the unfazed man did not seem to react to the strikes or the orders from the police to “get down.”
Finally, the next taser attempt received success, and the drama came to an end as the man hit the ground and was subdued by the officers.

The last time someone got tasered and received viral fame was last December, when an elderly woman tried to attack her neighbor’s flat with a chopper.
