On Christmas Day, what started out innocently enough as a complaint about loud noise levels somehow ended up with a weapon-wielding woman getting tasered and arrested in the wee hours of the morning. The 61-year-old auntie had attacked her neighbor’s flat with the weapon, the police told Channel NewsAsia, confirming that they responded to a case of criminal intimidation at Blk 157 Serangoon North Ave 1 at 4am.

Filmed by the neighbor from inside the safety of his/her home, the scene went viral on social media, mostly because of the woman’s violent antics and her surprising ability to stand up after being tasered and continue her struggle against the police officers.

If you’ve got five-and-a-half minutes to spare, watch the incident below (the moment she gets tasered happens around the 20-second mark).

According to The Straits Times, she was already hitting the neighbor’s gate and windows with her chopper by the time officers arrived at the unit. After a little back-and-forth involving her aggressive behavior with the chopper and her repeated refusal to ditch the weapon, an officer eventually “deployed one cycle of taser” on her, said a police spokesman.

But because of her age and the fact that her weapon was taken away, she was not tasered again or forcibly arrested. Instead, officers advised her to cooperate with the police. Eventually, she gave in and was arrested for criminal intimidation, then taken to Sengkang General Hospital, where she was given the all-clear before being released on police bail that day.

Police investigations are ongoing.
