Tuas bus interchange literally went hog wild last night when a horde of boars gently sauntered into the premises and basically didn’t know what else to do except sniff around and oink about.
Footage of around 20 wild boars wandering about the bus terminal went viral on social media last night. Nothing distressing at all happens really — just a purely surreal scene as the hogs wandered in front of the National Transport Workers’ Union canteen, while some of them curiously followed a man with a trolley.
Despite their reputation as aggressive, vicious beasts, they weren’t acting hostile at all, as if it was a normal thing for them to chill out near the canteen. According to The Straits Times, it’s a common sight too — the wild boars show up at the terminal as often as thrice a week.
Nonetheless, this magical Disney moment shouldn’t mean that you too can be friends and go on adventures with wild boars. The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) has advised members of the public to steer clear from ‘em, as they can be unpredictable and dangerous, especially adults protective of their young. Just last year, a boy had to be taken to hospital after a wild boar chased and injured him in Punggol.
