Boy injured after being chased down by wild boar in Edgefield Plains neighbourhood

It would have been yet another idle Sunday afternoon for a young boy in the Edgefield Plains neighbourhood — if he wasn’t chased down by a friggin’ wild boar.

Unfortunately, the boy was injured during the chase, and had to be conveyed by ambulance to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, according to The New Paper

Occurring in the vicinity of Block 184 in Edgefield Plains, it is not known if it was the very same wild boar caught on tape and uploaded on Stomp yesterday — also spotted in the same area, hours after the boy was chased down.

The Stomp contributor noted that she was in a lorry driven by her husband, tailing the critter for around two minutes as it ran ahead on the road. It ran up the pavement and into a housing estate later soon after.

Following reports of the sighting, the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) are conducting control operations in Punggol. Edgefield Plains is no stranger to wildlife after all — residents in the estate in Punggol has been reportedly seen both wild dogs and wild boars straying at a field nearby.

Wild boars are native to Singapore and have been spotted rampaging in human civilisation occasionally — like that time when one tried desperately to escape a bus stop in Bukit Panjang back in March. In April, one caused a serious accident on the Seletar Expressway when it collided with a motorcyclist
