WATCH: Coldplay writes a song just for ‘hot as hell’ Singapore on second sold-out gig

After Coldplay announced its Singapore gig last year, a whole bunch of craziness ensued. Tickets got snapped up in an instant, scalpers emerged on various online platforms with horrendously overpriced seats, and fans launched a petition for a second show, which promptly sold out as well — until additional restricted view tickets opened up a day before the first concert.

Then there were the snaking queues outside the National Stadium as thousands of fans got in line  — the first person arrived at 6.30am on day one — to secure a decent view of the British band’s performance.

But in the end, it was all worth it. Coldplay delivered two-hour gigs filled with sing-along hits, pyrotechnics, confetti rain, kaleidoscopic laser lights, as well as LED wristbands for audience members.

And let’s not forget the song they wrote just for Singapore and performed at the second concert on Apr 1.

‘Singapore, Singapore, Singapore
Well, we’ve played here four times before
But the way that the crowd they roar
Means we’re gonna play here a helluva lot of times more

Singapore, well there’s no forgetting
For the whole gig I’ve been severely sweating
Singapore, where they cheer so well
But Singapore, it’s as hot as hell

Singapore, Singapore, Singapore
Won’t you listen to that crowd when they roar
Singapore, Singapore, Singapore
We’ve played here a lot, but we’re gonna play here a lot more”

Watch frontman Chris Martin belt out the acoustic tune below.
