A Good Samaritan Grab driver reportedly intervened in a dangerous situation and potentially prevented a woman from being raped. In a series of tweets yesterday, Twitter user @PBK_twt posted about her father’s experience during his driving shift a few weeks ago.

“My father saved a young (likely underage) girl from being raped,” she said.

She said that after he picked up two boys and a very intoxicated girl in Clarke Quay, the boys asked him to change their drop-off location halfway through, from the girl’s home to Hotel 81 — known to be a place where people go for “a quick hook up.”

“It was pretty clear that the boys were intending to take advantage,” she said on Twitter.

Her father, concerned for his passenger’s safety, refused to take the trio to the hotel, instead driving all the way to the girl’s house.

“He told the boys to wait and accompanied her up to her flat — He made sure that she was inside before returning to his taxi,” she explained.

The story has since been retweeted thousands of times, inspiring others to help others in need when necessary.

“My goal in life: be like this man,” replied one Twitter user.

Others expressed their gratitude to the driver.

“God bless your dad! He did exceedingly well in a situation that could not only put the girl in harm but also himself. We need more selfless people in this world like him!” said another user.

This news comes less than a week after another story about a kind Grab driver went viral. Last weekend, a Facebook user posted about how her driver waited for the lift with her after dropping her off 2am. The story was also shared dozens of times.

This time, it’s the driver’s daughter who’s proudly sharing her father’s heroic actions.

“I think my dad prevented what could have been a terrible situation for that young girl,” she said. “I’m proud to call him my father, and I hope that people look up to him a lot for the sheer fact that he’s kind and thoughtful no matter what he has to face on the job.”
