NSmen will be able to enjoy free rides on public transport today (if they’re wearing their uniform, that is), but what’s the use when train services remain in dire straits?
A “track point fault” caused significant delays on the North-South Line (NSL) this morning, and commuters were advised to add up to 15 minutes to their travel time from Woodlands to Ang Mo Kio MRT stations.
[NSL]UPDATE: Pls add 15mins travel time from #Woodlands to #AngMoKio,due to a track point fault at #AngMoKio. Train svc is still available.

Ah, the promised delay, at Yishun MRT Station. My train has stopped for five minutes. People outside looking in, people inside looking out. pic.twitter.com/zgh2N8pqxj

This would make it the third day in a row that commuters have been hit with frustrating delays along the red line, ever since the major disruption that crippled train services on Wednesday. Thursday fared no better with commuters taking to social media to complain of slower train speeds and overcrowding on station platforms. Strangely, no advisories were issued by SMRT yesterday.
the mrt stopped at newton & announced about train delay :”) thank god my stop is at newton 🙏🏻

The track point fault this morning cleared only at about 8:48am, according to SMRT.
[NSL]CLEARED: Track point fault cleared, train service from #Woodlands to #AngMoKio is running normally.

Nonetheless, we still have a few months more left to go before SMRT can finally sort out all the teething problems that come with its new signalling system.
