Immigration officers at Woodlands Checkpoint had a sight to behold when they dug into a tissue box on the dashboard of a car only to find ten live black scorpions in them.
“At least, these weren’t in his pants,” said a Facebook post by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority on Friday.
An immigration officer uncovered the operation on Tuesday and detected the scorpions found hidden in a tissue box, which was located on the dashboard of a Singapore-registered car.
The car was driven by a 42-year-old Singaporean man, accompanied by a 63-year-old Singaporean man, said the ICA on their Facebook post.
It is unknown which direction the car came from, and is going to.
The case was referred to the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) for investigations and the scorpions have been placed in the custody of Wildlife Reserves Singapore.
The ICA reiterated their commitment to snuff out cases like this and nip them in the bud should they be found.
“The ICA will continue to conduct security checks on passengers and vehicles to prevent smuggling attempts of undesirable persons, drugs, weapons, explosives or other contrabands,” said the Facebook post.
“Our borders are our first line of defense in safeguarding Singapore’s security.”
The absurdness of the situation was not lost on Facebook commenters, many of whom had plenty of – erm – sting to dole out with their comments.
What a sting of a post.
