Singapore’s rescue efforts for victims of the disastrous Turkey-Syria earthquake continue as more reinforcements are deployed.

The rescue operation, aka Operation Lionheart, saw more reinforcements from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) deployed to Adana, Turkey last Friday.

SCDF last night said their base in Kahramanmaraş city has expanded to accommodate all 68 of them. The contingent is deployed at two different sites in the city where they have been conducting assessments and scouting for potential rescue areas within 13 kilometers of the base.

The team consists of officers from Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART), paramedics, and search specialists with their canine counterparts.

Previous updates last week revealed that the team has rescued a boy trapped under a collapsed 3-storey building and a man stuck under a large concrete slab of a 2-storey building.

The Singapore Turkish Embassy on Friday put a pause on accepting donations due to the overwhelming support from the public who physically came down to drop off unused items for the victims.
