It was just a couple weeks ago that we heard about a group of Singaporeans from all races banding together to rescue a stray cat stuck on a tree. Now, here’s another incident of Singaporeans uniting as one to work together, this time brought about by the weather.

On Monday (Mar 6) afternoon, a three-storey tall tree fell onto the road along Kaki Bukit Avenue 1 during a bout of heavy rain. In cases like these, drivers would usually wait for the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) to move the tree out of the way, but the heavy rain probably changed their minds after about half an hour. At 4.30pm, the line of cars jamming the road had apparently extended to 30m long.

Deciding to deal with the problem themselves, some 10 frustrated drivers and thoughtful passers-by attempted to shift the massive tree away from the road. Two unsuccessful tries later, 10 more people joined in the effort and finally managed to clear the road. No injuries were reported.

Good on all those who helped out.
