Singapore ‘samurai’ arrested after attacking man and cars with sword (Videos)

A man who brandished a sword to attack people and passing cars today has been arrested.

The unidentified man was arrested for criminal intimidation and possession of an offensive weapon hours after he injured two people while swinging a sword at passing vehicles and people today in Buangkok Square.

The police said they were alerted at about 1:55pm to the man who was filmed standing in the middle of the road and hitting cars and attacking a man at the traffic light. 

In one of the videos, the man appears in the middle of the road randomly hitting cars that went past him before striking the pedestrian. Four passers-by ran to help and pin down the attacker.

At least three cars were struck and two people were injured, the police said, adding that they have seized the sword and are investigating.

Eyewitnesses said that the attacker was unconscious when police arrived and there was blood on him and others.

If found guilty of possessing an offensive weapon, he could be jailed for up to three years and caned. As for criminal intimidation, he could be jailed for up to two years and fined.
