SIA scores Skytrax’s World’s Best Airline Award once again after 10 years

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has topped another list, edging out friendly rival Qatar Airways for Skytrax’s World’s Best Airline Award.

Their prestigious annual award — dubbed the “Oscars of the Aviation Industry” — bases its rankings on a rigorous survey of millions of fliers from over 100 countries. The London-based Skytrax made a name for themselves evaluating and advising airlines and airports on how to do better by their customers, and their recognition is highly sought after.

While the national carrier came in second last year (right behind Qatar Airways), this is not their first time at the top of the annual list.

“We congratulate Singapore Airlines on this fabulous achievement, being voted the World’s Best Airline by customers for the fourth time in the awards history,” said Edward Plaisted of Skytrax.

You hear that Qatar Airways? Four-time champions. And yet another trophy on the cabinet after bagging the world’s best airline as well in TripAdvisor’s 2018 Travellers’ Choice Awards.

After SIA and Qatar in first and second place, props should be given to All Nippon Airways (ABA) for coming in third, followed by Emirates, EVA Air, Cathay Pacific, Lufthansa, Hainan Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, and Thai Airways for making it to the top 10.

Besides taking home the top prize this year, SIA swept a couple of other glorious categories including Best First Class, and Best Premium Economy Class in Asia.

And just to show we have no hard feelings, congratulations to Qatar Airways for winning World’s Best Business Class, Best Business Class Seat, and World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge, in addition to world’s second best airline.
