Coney Island — the confusingly named island off the north-eastern coast that should actually be just called Pulau Serangoon — will finally be open to the public on Oct 10.
Measuring 45 hectares in size, there will be neither be amusement parks nor seaside resorts at this Coney Island. With the new facelift, expect the pulau to be just a plain old nature park that’ll boast high-octane adventures such as bird-watching, litter-picking, and flora-spotting.
According to the Urban Redevelopment Authority, a section of Coney Island is zoned for residential, sport and recreational use, but that’ll take some time. So now it’s an interim park. Yay.
The National Parks Board have also called out for thrill-seeking volunteers to conduct electrifying activities such as guided walks and bird-watching for the public. Sensational training sessions will also be held for volunteers to learn about the exhilirating flora and fauna of the island.
