Eateries specializing in porridge aren’t exactly known for being places where customers unleash their Wreck-It Ralph side, but here we are.
Four patrons — believed to have been drunk — were unhappy with the price of their meal and caused quite a ruckus when they allegedly wrecked a Teochew porridge restaurant along Upper Serangoon Road in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Chairs were tossed, tables where flipped, staff were manhandled, and jimmies were rustled, Shin Min Daily News reported.
The price of their bill, you ask? Oh, just $28 for porridge, pomfret and several side dishes. A ghastly $7 each, how ever could they afford that meal?
A cleaner at the eatery who witnessed the chaos informed Shin Min that the four customers used chairs to smash the serving area, destroying the glass surfaces. The police were alerted to the scene at 3:44am, but the Four Horsemen of Porridge Rampage had fled by the time they arrived. Investigations are ongoing.
Despite the widespread damage all around, fortunately no one was hurt during the incident. The Straits Times reported that the shop was quickly cleaned up and open for business by noon that same day.
