A nightmare renovation can continue to haunt homeowners even after their makeover is complete.

A sliding glass door suddenly bursting into shards at the Punggol home of a Singaporean family has enthralled viewers today after footage was posted by homeowner Eldora Lie, 34. The home surveillance footage shows her husband walking from the dining room to the kitchen, walking past the sliding door just minutes before it broke.

Lie, a real estate agent, has complained about the Feb. 26 incident to her renovation contractor, who appeared to deny responsibility, according to her video caption.

“So I’ve went back to our contractor and ask: ‘Why did our tempered glass [shatter],” Lie wrote. “[H]e says that ‘tempered glass means safety glass and it does not mean that it would not shatter, it will break into cubes compared to those sharp pointy glass.’”

The mother of two then warned viewers to “think twice or thrice” if they thought that tempered glass was safe to use. She told Coconuts today that she has yet to replace the damaged door, noting that the newly built home was completed three years ago.

Lie wouldn’t say who her renovation contractor was.

The surveillance footage was posted online in the wee hours of this morning. Her husband shared in the video comments a photo of a bucket of broken glass he had scooped up following the incident.
