Man gets 14 years’ jail for killing colleague with chopper

Naggers, beware.

A man with a work colleague who verbally and physically abused him over three months has been sentenced to a 14-year-jail term for slashing his tormentor 26 times until he died.

Li Yongxiang, 27, came to Singpapore in Apr 2013 to work as a driver for a timber and firm company in Kranji, reports The Straits Times.

Li was teamed up with Zhu Ai Hua, who was hard to get along with, he told his boss.

In Jun 2013, after being scolded by Zhu for the way he placed a trolley, Li had enough and turned in his resignation. Since he was a Chinese national who got his job from an employment agency, that meants losing about $7,500 in agent fees.

Frustrated and depressed — as diagnosed later on by a government psychiatrist — Li bought a chopper, “confronted Mr Zhu and slashed his neck and other parts of his body. He then washed up, threw the chopper into a pail and waited for the police to arrive,” according to the report.

Li pleaded guilty to culpable homicide not amount to murder.
