Yesterday, Seletar Airport was the landing ground for the inaugural flight of Firefly from Subang in Malaysia to Seletar in Singapore. FY3126 landed around 10:50am, marking the Malaysian budget carrier’s resuming of operations to Singapore, this time to Seletar Airport.
Seventy-two passengers were on board, including Malaysia’s Minister of Transport Anthony Loke and his accompanying delegation. Singapore’s Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan greeted them upon arrival, according to a press release from Changi Airport Group, which manages Seletar Airport.
Firefly will operate a twice-daily Subang-Seletar service from now till Apr 28; following that, the service will increase to six a day.
Previously, the airline had suspended flights to Singapore last December after it did not get approval from Malaysia’s aviation regulator to shift operations from Changi Airport to Seletar Airport, Channel NewsAsia said.
If you haven’t been to the new passenger terminal at Seletar Airport, it now has more check-in counters and seating areas in the departure gate holdroom, as well as a cafe and garden courtyard. Bus service 102 connects the airport to Hougang Central Bus Interchange, Sengkang MRT station, and Jalan Kayu.
