Famed American electric automaker Tesla has arrived in Singapore.
After over a decade since its founding, Tesla Inc. is finally showcasing its celebrated Model 3 future cars in a 143sqm showroom on the ground floor of the Raffles City shopping mall.
Currently, only the four-door sedan is available for sale starting at S$77,990 (US$57,800). The Tesla Model S and Model X are pending updates on its website.
Singapore in February gave a green light to the car maker as part of ambitious plans to be more sustainable. One national goal is to phase out internal combustion engines by 2040, and make cleaner energy cars compulsory.
This comes three years after Tesla founder Elon Musk tweeted that Singapore was “not supportive of electric vehicles.”

While the vehicles will be equipped with Tesla’s self-driving technology, it was not immediately clear if autopilot would be allowed on Singapore’s roads.
Tesla last week started delivering cars via its service center at Toa Payoh.
