In yet another freak accident that occured this morning, a private bus and a tipper truck collided on Jurong Island, leaving one dead and nine others in hospital.
The Straits Times reported that the police have since arrested the 58-year-old bus driver for causing death by a rash act.
The accident at the junction of Jurong Island Highway and Seraya Avenue transpired some time before 9am, with the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) deploying two fire engines, two ambulances and a support vehicle to the scene.
A total of nine people were conveyed conscious to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital for treatment, while two others with minor injuries refused to be taken to hospital.
A 62-year-old male bus passenger however was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
According to The New Paper, the injured passengers worked for the same company, and had been on the way to Jurong Island following their night shift.
