In a freak accident that transpired this morning, a 13-year-old boy died after a goal post fell on him.

The Straits Times reports that the schoolboy died at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital after an incident during physical education class sometime after 9am at Geylang Methodist Secondary School.

How it apparently happened: the victim was playing football with his classmates when he grabbed onto the goal post. It fell and struck the boy on his head.

After being conveyed to hospital by ambulance, the boy succumbed to his injuries later on. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) stated that CPR was performed on him en route to the hospital.
