To no one’s surprise at all, the ridiculous prices of Apple’s new iPhone models are no obstacle at all to the legions of fanboys here who’ve started queuing up outside the Apple Store today in anticipation for the big launch tomorrow morning.

Insanely long lines have already formed outside 270 Orchard Road earlier today, with numbers expected to grow before the iPhone XS and XS Max goes for sale at 9am tomorrow. Images captured by The Straits Times showcase rows upon rows of people willing to wait long hours just to fork out thousands of dollars for smartphones that cost as much as decked out gaming computers.

Just down the street at the Courts store, queues have also formed, but not as major as the one outside the Apple Store.

The new series of iPhones have already gotten flak for being way too costly, even for Apple’s standards. The iPhone XS Max — the bigger version — only starts at S$1,799, and that’s just for the something with a measly 64gb capacity. With all the videos, photos and media to be enjoyed these days, folks need phones that are at least 256gb in capacity, and that already goes for a phenomenal $2,039. Want a fully decked out iPhone XS Max? That’ll be a ludicrous $2,349.

Of course, one could always go for the smaller iPhone XS, but even so, you’ll be hitting S$1,649 onwards.

Apple fanboys will be Apple fanboys, nonetheless, and the long queues outside the Orchard Road store are becoming a yearly event in itself. Well, at least you can have Deliveroo bring in your orders to your spot in line.
