Necks craned, their eyes glued to the school hall entrance, some 1,000 kids from Yumin Primary School and its neighboring Chongzheng Primary School chanted “Ronaldo!” minutes before the football legend’s whirlwind appearance at Yumin, in support of the Singapore Olympic Foundation-Peter Lim Scholarship.

For 30 minutes today (July 4), Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo’s stylish footwork and impressive tricks found a captive audience beyond Turin, Piedmont. He was all smiles as he gave out hugs and high-fives to the students, talking to them about his journey that started from humble beginnings.

Dressed in an all-white ensemble, he also gamely fielded questions and enjoyed a kick-about with a few lucky students from the school.

The 34-year-old Portuguese player had surprised fans by arriving on our shores on Tuesday (July 2), way ahead of Juventus’ match against Tottenham Hotspur at the Singapore leg of the International Champions Cup (ICC) happening later this month.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been busy since he landed on our shores. It is understood that he was also in the East yesterday (July 3), at Our Tampines Hub for a closed-door commercial event.

But if you missed out on a glimpse of Ronaldo, take heart, as he’s set to play at the National Stadium when Juventus goes against Tottenham Hotspur at the ICC on July 21.

Where else will the soccer megastar be spotted in his four-day long trip? We’ll just have to wait to find out.
