Now we’re getting the jitters. The bed bugs have (allegedly) struck once again, this time at two Golden Village (GV) cinemas, according to a woman who lodged a complaint claiming to have been bitten by bugs on two separate occasions.
The Straits Times reported that Debra Low first noticed a rash on her skin after a visit to GV’s City Square Mall theatre on July 23 to watch a movie, but she didn’t think much of it. It was only after she felt an itch on her back while watching another movie at Junction 8 on Aug 7 that her suspicions were raised.
A complaint was lodged on GV’s Facebook page, with Low demanding answers for the alleged bug bites. The cinema responded by proceeding to block the seats and conduct preventive treatment on the affected areas. It also added that it engages pest control units to conduct monthly inspections for all its cinemas. No bugs were detected from the investigations, it said.
But Low remained dissatisfied with the handling of her complaint and refused the compensation of two complimentary tickets. GV then gave a rather passive-aggressive response, asking Low how she would like the case to be handled better.
It’s reported that Low has since recovered without requiring a doctor’s attention, and she was told by friends that this could just be a reaction to dust.
Low’s complaint was actually lodged on the same day as a Scoot passenger who also complained of alleged bed bugs on the plane seats.
