By now, you’ve probably already watched the whirlwind of fists, beer and thrown furniture that transpired at Envy Dance Club on Sunday morning, but in case you haven’t, here’s a nice sample of what happened on the dance floor.
Though the clips (that have since gone viral on Facebook) captured the violent free-for-all between club-goers and bouncers, what wasn’t filmed was the fact that an actual police officer was also beaten up in the brouhaha.
The Singapore Police Force has since confirmed that an officer was assaulted that morning while he was conducting a routine patrol at the St James Power Station nightclub. The cop had attempted to stop a dispute that had broken out, but ended up attacked by two 23-year-old men. Meanwhile, a 23-year-old woman also managed to grab on to the officer before punching him. Jeez.
The three attackers have since been charged in court on Monday for voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty, TODAY reported. They could face up to seven years in jail, a fine, and/or caning.
The management of Envy has since provided an update on Facebook, assuring that the injured floor staff and security officers are recovering well from the Sunday Slam.
“Rest assured that the management promises the best clubbing experience in our premises and customers’ safety and well being is our utmost concern,” the club wrote, noting that it’s also working on a possible legal case.
