A 24-year-old motorcyclist died after being hit by a car at a traffic junction in Tampines on Wednesday night.
The incident happened at the junction of Tampines Street 32 and Tampines Avenue 2, the Singapore Civil Defence Force told Coconuts Singapore today.
It added that it was alerted to the incident at about 10pm and that the man was unconscious when taken to Changi General Hospital.
While police told Coconuts Singapore that it was unable to provide further details as investigation findings are “confidential in nature”, a report by The Straits Times cited the police saying that the man had later died from his injuries.
The driver in the car, a 29-year-old man, was also arrested for causing death by negligence, the report said.
According to photos posted on Facebook, it appears that the car had hit the motorcycle from the back, throwing it off course before it landed on a curb. The motorcycle’s exhaust pipe was also dislodged.
The impact had smashed the car’s front, scattering debris on the road.
