The Japanese pop culture fest is back with packed lineups of all-things anime.
The Anime Festival Asia Singapore 2022 will return with three full days of activities at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre on Nov. 25. There will be talk shows, interactive meet and greets with virtual personalities, premiere screenings of upcoming animes, an art showcase highlighting over 150 creators, and cosplay and dance competitions.
On Nov. 25, there will be virtual guest appearances and talk shows with virtual YouTuber Fulgur Ovid from Nijisanji, Luna Amane of Nhot Bot, Maya Ichimonji from Gems Company, Nox from VirtuaReal and Lilrya Prisvielle from VReverie, performances by Miura Ayme and Satoshi Kada from Obey Me!, a game from the Shall we date? series, and a special guest appearance by celebrity cosplayer Hakken.
The next day, expect a screening of the first two episodes of Arknights: Prelude to Dawn, an anime adaptation of the popular mobile game, appearances by Junta Terashima and Ryota Takeuchi from The Cat’s Whiskers and a talk show with guests from the popular anime Lycoris Recoil.
On the final day, visitors can attend a panel from animation studio MAPPA which will be discussing current and upcoming projects like Chainsaw Man, Attack On Titan’s final season, Hell’s Paradise and Vinland Saga. There will also be DJ sets by D4DJ and a guest appearance and talk show with voice actor Yuki Ono.
At night, the AFA Night LIVE! will kickstart with a 10th Anniversary screening of Sword Art Online – Fulldive, a hologram live meet and greet with virtual personalities and the fan-favorite music event I Love Anisong featuring performances by Shinobu Inuyose and Towa Hanamaki, Junna, May’n and Nanawoakari.
Art also plays a big part in the festival as more than 150 creators from 15 countries and regions will be taking part in the Creators’ Hub this year. Works from illustrators Rachta Lin, Sarah Thursday and digital artist Raiko will be featured.
The event will be partnering with Japanese online art community Pixiv to showcase close to 20,000 illustrations, manga, and novels worldwide. An illustration contest will be held with a cash prize of S$2,000 and more.
As for the competitions, a new J-Dance Asia dance-off will be held. Groups of up to 10 can battle to a Japanese song track with renowned dancers from Singapore and Japan as judges.
The mandatory Cosplay Singles showcase competition also returns for cosplayers to flaunt their costumes.
Other exhibition highlights include those from Anime Metaverse, Bandai, Bushiroad, Conan, Genshin Impact, Good Smile Company, Hakken!, Kotobukiya, Nissin, Valiant Force and more.
