Buy to Save 2017

Revamp your wardrobe with a couple pre-loved pieces by high-end designer brands at this pop-up sale, which will feature labels such as Balenciaga, Carolina Herrera, and Jimmy Choo. As for the net proceeds, 80 percent will support the Singapore Committee for UN Women’s advocacy against gender-based violence, 10 percent will go to UN Women’s Cambodia Roka Commune project, and 10 percent will fund the UN Women Safe Cities Metro Manila Programme.

Kathy Griffin: Laugh Your Head Off World Tour

Get your dose of the LOLs as the American comedian arrives on our shores for her first world tour, armed with jokes on just about everything.

Kings & Queen of Comedy Asia 8

Laugh out loud at the stand-up comedy show, which features Harith Iskander, Daliso Chaponda, Raj Sharma, and Sharul Channa on the line-up.

Singapore River Festival 2017

At this fest, check out the first night river regatta to be held at the Singapore River in 20 years, watch the river light up with the biggest LED kite display to hit our shores, rave the night away at the Lit Up Party by the Clarke Quay Fountain Square, and rise to the challenge at the largest trivia night at Robertson Walk.

Singapore Writers Festival 2017

The 20th edition of the annual festival celebrates its milestone with a SWF20 exhibition featuring a chronology of the fest and memorabilia from each year. It’s also the first year to feature a Tamil theme – Aram explores what it truly means to be “good”, questioning ethical and moral dilemmas along the way.

Wine & Whisky Week: Christmas Edition

Stock up on wine and whisky for all your festive parties, with more than 500 labels to choose from and over 100 labels available for complimentary tastings. Also look out for masterclasses led by industry experts.

Saturday, Nov 4

Bubbles & Brunch

If you haven’t heard, Nosh is bidding us farewell at the end of 2017 after six years of operations. To say goodbye in style, the Rochester Park restaurant will be hosting a few events, starting with this weekend brunch of signature Nosh fare accompanied by free flow Prosecco and beer.

11:30am-3pm at Nosh. $65 for brunch, $110 for bubbles and brunch.  

Dia de Muertos Singapore 2017

Celebrate Mexico’s Day of the Dead at the old Beach Road Police Station, with musicians and artists from Mexico and Singapore collaborating for the fest. There’ll be an exhibition paying tribute to Frida Kahlo, an augmented reality installation of Pixar’s upcoming film Coco, Mexican street food, and craft-making workshops.

1pm-11pm at 99 Beach Rd. Free.

Local Lingo Tingkat Party

The Local People take over the Chinatown Food Street for an indie art and music market filled with tunes by local acts, traditional and experimental dishes, and workshops for you to create retro items like five stones and Good Morning drawstring bags.

Love, Bonito Flagship Store Opening

The hugely popular online retailer finally goes brick-and-mortar – after all those pop-up spaces – with its first permanent store on Orchard Road. Check out the collections at the opening store launch this weekend.

Starker Music Carnival

Settle in for a day of cool tunes by Taiwanese Mando-pop singer A-Lin and local musicians Jasmine Sokko, Disco Hue, The Façade, Ling Kai, and Alfred Sim.

3:30pm-10:30pm at Tanjong Pagar Centre, L1 Urban Park, outside Starker Signature. Free entry with purchase of $25 F&B set or $158 free-flow beer package.

The Giving Family Festival

The family-friendly fest features carnival rides, a fun run, tele-match games, F&B vendors, performances, and workshops galore. Donations will go towards meeting the needs of the 28,000 TOUCH beneficiaries, including youth-at-risk and those with special needs.

Wan Qing CultureFest 2017

The festival’s seventh edition celebrates Singapore’s Chinese arts and literary scene with carnival booths, martial arts classes, Chinese opera workshops, tea appreciation talks, heritage and food trails, monument tours, outdoor movie screenings, and lots more.

Until Nov 12; 10am-9:30pm at Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall. Free.

 

Sunday, Nov 5

Sky High Brunch

Take to the skies for Sunday brunch with groovy tunes by funk group The Cuban Brothers, mod-Asian bites like tea-smoked free range chicken and tamarind braised short ribs, and a DIY cocktail booth for you to create your own Bloody Mary concoction.

Noon-4pm at CE LA VI. Pre-sale $188, at the door $198; includes free-flow Veuve Clicquot Yellow NV and cocktails.

Three Buns x Bird Bird

The culinary geniuses of Three Buns and Bird Bird have joined forces to whip up The Bird Bun ($16), a rice bun stuffed with Thai fried Sakura chicken thigh, nam jim slaw, and coconut mayo. Get it at Bird Bird this Sunday, or Potato Head Singapore next Sunday.
