The Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix always causes some excitement around town when it comes around, mostly thanks to non-sporting events like the massive monitor lizard strolling across the track in 2016, and some dude putting his life in danger in 2015 by running out in front of Sebastian Vettel’s car just to snap a pic.

Last year, celebs in town for the event also made the news when they sampled durian for the first time (yawn), took ice baths to cool down, and tried the cheapest Michelin-starred meal in the world at Chinatown.

Anyway, since the contract for Singapore Grand Prix has been extended for four more years until 2021, we’ll probably be seeing a lot more entertaining headlines come September. But before that, check out the line-up for this year’s concerts — because, let’s face it, more people want to buy tickets for that rather than for the race itself.

From Sept 14-16, we’ll get King of Mandopop Jay Chou, rock outfit The Killers, Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, English songbird Dua Lipa, and DJ Martin Garrix.

They’re all set to perform on stage at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, alongside Simply Red, The Sugarhill Gang, Björn Again, Sekai No Owari, and Young Fathers.

Besides the bigwigs, the Circuit Park will also play host to more international acts such as European and African-based collective Afro Celt Sound System, the UK’s House Gospel Choir, Indonesian folk-pop duo Stars and Rabbit, up-and-coming DJ Lizzy Wang from China, Boys in the Band from Australia, dance duo Bonesthemachine & Drewdollaz, American street percussionist The Bucket Boy, and British knife-jugglers (?) Two Gentlemen.

We’ll have local acts in the mix too: jazz musician Joanna Dong (made famous by her time on TV show Sing! China), Abby Simone x MMLD, Miss Lou, Picks, M1LDL1FE, and DJs Myrne, EATMEPOPTART, EMONIGHTSG, and Matteblacc will take the stage to perform.

If all that’s enough to convince you to buy tickets for yet another year of F1, here’s a tip: Singapore residents can get a 51 percent discount on Friday’s Zone 4 Walkabout tickets — there’s a limited supply, but it does bring the price down to $38 — at SISTIC outlets.

Marina Bay Street Circuit, Sept 14-16. Single day walkabout tickets $78-$188, single day Bay Grandstand tickets $108-$208.
