Icelandic folk-pop band Of Monsters and Men announced today they are calling off their Asia tour due to illness.
The band was due to perform today in Hong Kong, followed by Taiwan on Thursday and Singapore on Saturday at Fort Canning Park. They had already canceled Sunday’s Bangkok gig on the morning of the event due to a “medical emergency.”
A statement by Hong Kong show organizer Last Bullet Productions yesterday said one of the members was hospitalized in the Thai capital.
“We are gutted to announce that we are unable to play the rest of our asia tour due to illness,” a statement posted to the band’s social media accounts said.
“This isn’t anything that rest won’t cure, but doctor’s orders are just that – rest for the next few weeks. We have all been so looking forward to playing these shows. This is not an easy decision for us to make.”
Singapore concert organizer Greener Pastures said they are “disappointed and saddened” to deliver the news, adding that it is working with the band to reschedule a performance.
Early bird tickets to the band’s Singapore show, priced S$98, have sold out, the ticketing website showed.
All tickets bought via the iGO ticketing website will be refunded in full directly to the purchasing card, Greener Pastures said in its statement.
“We will be working with the band to reschedule a performance. Thank you for your kind understanding and support.”
The band was also scheduled to perform in Japan on Jan. 20 and Jan. 21, their website showed.
Formed in 2009, the band is made up of lead singer and guitarist Nanna Bryndis Hilmarsdottir, singer and guitarist Ragnar “Raggi” Porhallsson, lead guitarist Brynjar Leifsson, drummer Arnar Rosenkranz Hilmarsson and bassist Kristjan Pall Kristjansson.
They have produced three studio albums, and are best known for the songs Little Talks and Wild Roses.
