Looks like March could be quite the exciting month, with the return of Singapore Design Week and all its programmes, like the newly revamped design trails across the city. Making its debut at the festival is also District Design Dialogue Holland Village, which takes you to the neighborhood mostly known for its restaurants and cafes, and offers you a different perspective of the area, with creatives from the fashion, food, music, and art scenes coming together.

Basically, the platform features interactive design takeovers of 10 terrace houses at Chip Bee Gardens: The Library, The Kitchen, The Runway, The Playground, The Lounge, The Stage, Eyeyah!, Sole Superior, Underscore, and Blackout House. All this comes alongside more than 50 local creative businesses and brands collaborating to craft fringe activities at cafes, shops, creative studios, and galleries.

Check out this map below for a glimpse of what to expect.

At The Library, you’ll find local literary collective Sing Lit Station hosting a pop-up retail bookshop by Basheer Graphic Books, spaces for writers-in-residence to work, and weekday sessions of “Locked in a Room With” for dialogues with creatives such as Brunch Bandits, Samantha Lo (SKLO), and the like.

The Kitchen’s pretty self-explanatory, so come with an empty stomach for pop-up supper clubs and food trucks, as well as local produce and workshops on everything from tea appreciation to chocolate and whiskey pairings.

As for The Runway, the fashion-themed house will display a selection of homegrown fashion labels like Heads of State Millinery and Waiyang, while The Playground is designed for little ones, with installations like a string maze, a rainbow room, and a hands-on “Fishes in the Reef” space.

If you’re on the hunt for beauty, home and lifestyle goods, pop by The Lounge, which also features The Fragment Room’s rage room and a pop-up tattoo studio by Vagabond Ink. But if you just want to chill, head to The Stage for acoustic music sessions by the likes of Intriguant, Weish, and Glen Wee, as well as DJ workshops and digital art shows.

At Eyeyah!, you’ll be introduced to a t-shirt exhibition for kids set to the theme of “The Internet”. The walk-in wardrobe curates over 30 international artists’ works, with animations, workshops, and art prints.

District Design Dialogue Holland Village is on from Mar 10-18, daily 10am-8pm at Holland Village. Free, with ticketed events.
