Ladies, here’s a potentially lifesaving solution to your high-heeled woes — adjustable-height heels. Brought to our shores by homegrown start-up footwear brand Gena, these pumps and sandals allow you to change up the height of your heels anytime you want.

Easily switch between two heights — 2cm and 9cm — with the flick of a small button on the side of the outsole, and pull the heel upwards or downwards, depending on the occasion you’re wearing it for (sure sounds like a nifty invention for anyone who’s experienced aching feet after partying it up on the dance floor). Manufactured in China, the heels’ uppers and insoles are crafted with nappa leather, with ergonomic air injected foam to offer additional cushioning for your feet.

Inspired by watching a bunch of girls clutching their high-heeled shoes and walking barefoot after a night out when she was 15, the 26-year-old founder came up with the concept three years ago, worked on the designs for two years, and tested out the heels for four months before launching the brand. Each pair of heels costs between $190 and $210, depending on the style and materials used.

Watch how it works below.

Come July 8, Gena will go international with a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign offering the shoes for a price tag of $160. As for now, keep tabs on the brand’s Facebook page for details on an upcoming Millenia Walk pop-up where you can check out the heels for yourself.
