An American singer got a not-so-sweet welcome during her Singapore vacation recently.

Kelis Rogers-Mora, more commonly known as Kelis who sang the 2003 megahit Milkshake, had a cringey encounter with two women who touched her hair allegedly without her consent at a coffee shop.

“I don’t even know what to say here,” the 43-year-old singer wrote on Instagram.

The video posted Saturday showed the women in awe of the singer’s braids. They supposedly helped themselves to her hair and spoke to themselves in Mandarin.

“Just embrace it,” someone said behind the camera.

“Oh I like to be touched,” she replied sarcastically.

Enraged users in the comments were appalled and called the encounter “ridiculous.” Some also said they experienced something similar and commended Kelis for handling the situation well.

“I can’t even. The lack of self-awareness here is outstanding,” Instagram user Diyaanee said.

“You handled this well I just hate when ppl touch my hair! This ain’t no damn petting zoo lol,” user Queenxjhoney said.

Kelis said in the comments that she was “caught off guard” at first and would have reacted differently if this happened in Europe or the United States.

The singer performed her hits at a Formula One afterparty at Mandala Weekender earlier this month. She extended her stay and shopped for fruits, tried out Saris and indulged in local food.
