Fifty-eight restaurants and food stalls from across Singapore have been listed in the fourth edition of the Michelin Bib Gourmand, which was announced today. This year’s selections see 12 new entries, including offshoots by Michelin-starred restaurants — a jump from the 50 eateries that made it to last year’s list, which itself increased from 38 in the 2017 Bib Gourmand guide.

Michelin’s Bib Gourmand recognizes F&B businesses that offer quality meals that don’t exceed a S$45 (US$32) price tag per visit. This year’s selection by Michelin food inspectors features 33 hawker stalls, six “street food” outlets and 19 restaurants that offer a wide range of dishes, from spicy curries and seafood soups to roast meats and offal-focused fare.

The 12 new entries include Chef Kang’s Noodle House, a casual offshoot of the one-Michelin starred Chef Kang’s restaurant that serves S$5 bowls of char siew wanton noodles.

There’s also Chen’s Mapo Tofu, which is a spin-off of the two-Michelin-starred, Japanese-owned Sichuan restaurant Shisen Hanten. Chen’s Mapo Tofu serves a more fast-casual version of popular Sichuan dishes, and specializes in the tongue-numbing tofu dish for which it’s named after (at S$10.50 per order).
