Remember when 50 Shades of Grey came out back in 2015 and made a tantalising union with the masturbatory celebrations of SG50 to spawn #SG50ShadesOfGrey?

Welp, the film sequel to the naughty BDSM grimoire for housewives is out, and it’s darker than ever before. 50 shades darker than the first one, to be exact.

With the arrival of 50 Shades Darker (8% on RottenTomatoes, lol) comes another fitting lampoon that appropriately takes the piss on the shitty E. L. James franchise. Andrew Lim — of professional underwater photography firm Drewperspectives — took it upon himself to carry out a 50 Shades-themed shoot with a Singaporean twist. Behold: ’50 Shades of Singapore — Hit Me Aunty One More Time’.

Planning to add a little film-themed pizzazz to his portfolio, he gathered his friends for a styled shoot at his brother’s pool. Portraying a caucasian dude going full BDSM on a petite Asian lady, however, is bound to spark some controversy (obviously), so he decided to reverse the roles.

As in, the passive Anastasia Steele was turned into an “aggressive Chinese tiger Aunty” and the handsome, brooding Christian Grey became a “clueless white boy who had no idea what he was in for after stepping into Asia.”

According to the underwater photography veteran (he’s been shooting marine life since he was 17), one challenge during the shoot was how to make the female model look as aunty as possible — which he easily solved by purchasing clothes from heartland markets.

Lim’s intention was also to show prospective clients a better idea of what they could achieve with underwater shoots, as compared to standard ones on land.

“Underwater photography isn’t very established yet, so I’m doing all I can to pave the way and open the perspectives of the public,” he enthused to Coconuts Singapore.

And it’s worked out well — the photos turned out gorgeous (and amusing), as you can see. Check out the rest of the hilarious snaps from the 50 Shades shoot on his website, and tap that follow button on his Instagram page to see more of his surreal underwater shots.
