The name Hans Lienesch may not be a familiar one, but surely you’ve heard of his blog The Ramen Rater — probably the world’s foremost authority on instant noodles across the globe.
The ramen rockstar hasn’t exactly hidden his love for Singapore’s range of instant noodles — the Prima Taste Singapore Laksa Wholegrain LaMian has topped his annual list of all-time best instant noodles for two years in a row now. We concur though; they are really good. So good that you wouldn’t even know they came from a ramen packet.
And it’s Prima Taste that snatched the top few spots once again on Lienesch’s brand new list: the top 10 Singaporean instant noodles of all time. Out of the more than 2,500 varieties he claimed to have tried from the Little Red Dot, his top picks included the likes of Nissin’s seafood tom yam cup noodles, Maggi’s extra spicy curry noodles, and Koka’s creamy sweet corn noodles. Prima Taste got four nods with its fish soup la mian at eighth place, creamy chicken mee at fourth, curry wholegrain la mian at third and, of course, laksa wholegrain la mian holding strong at the top spot.
Oh, and it was nice of him to put out the video during Singapore’s National Day last week. Now that’s a fitting homage to our food culture.
