If you have been dreaming about indulging in deshelled crustaceans served in split-top buns like those served in the U.S. state of Maine, look out for this potential game-changer opening at Isetan Scotts.
Having served up lobsters in food trucks and restaurants across America since 2009, Luke’s Lobsters will be rolling out its seafood rolls to Singapore on Wednesday.
The meat is handpicked and flown in from Maine and served at the 23-seater space located on the ground floor of the Isetan Scotts department store. The interior is custom built with wooden planks to resemble the classic seafood shack back in New England.
As simple as its interior, the eatery’s one-page, all-day menu includes three seafood rolls — Lobster Roll (S$25.50), Crab Roll (S$23.50) and Shrimp Roll (S$S$21.50), two soups — Clam Chowder (S$11.50), Lobster Bisque (S$12.90) and Tyrrells Chips (S$2.90).
The meat is served chilled and seasoned with lemon butter and the brand’s secret seasoning atop a heavily buttered, split-top bun that is spread with mayonnaise. Each roll comes with a quarter pound, or 4 ounces, of your choice of seafood in classic red food baskets.
If you are split between the choices of meat, Luke’s Trio (S$33.50) offers half of all three. The portion might be halved but the flavors were not compromised on a recent visit. The lobster was served in chunks including meat from the claw while the crab meat was shredded. The fillings that were spewing everywhere were moist, and its chillness enhanced the freshness.
Pair the rolls with soups that also have chunks of meat. The Lobster Bisque comes with chunks of lobster and the creaminess of it coats the back of your throat nicely. The clam chowder is more watery and on the saltier side. It has sliced clams with a generous amount of chopped potatoes.
A selection of drinks such as their homemade lemonade, cold brews, draught beers and wines is also available.
Also, keep an eye out for their grilled cheese sandwiches filled with the lobster and crab meat, a new menu item that is expected to launch by the end of this year. Definitely a must-try for cheese lovers!
Although we would prefer chomping on these meaty rolls by the sea, the indoor seating will have to cut it for now. If you want a taste of New England-style seafood rolls, Luke’s Lobsters seems to be the place for it. The prices are on the cheaper side as compared to other lobster diners in Singapore as well.
