It took three years, but the wait for the Hot Devil Drumlets’ return to KFC was worth the months of persistent tweeting and trolling for Singapore’s latest cult hero: 30-year-old Farhan Adam Borst.

As promised by the fast food purveyors, the country’s biggest fan of the spicy chicken drumlets managed to chomp on ‘em before the rest of the island did — a just, delicious reward for keeping his blazing passion for the entrée alive by simply being relentless in telling KFC to bring ‘em back.

Two days before Hot Devil Drumlets became available across outlets islandwide, KFC sent a hefty care package right to his house: 60 Hot Devil Drumlets, 20 pieces of chicken, 25 nuggets, and a whole bunch of coleslaw and mash potatoes. It’s a righteous feast that needed the help of his wife, kids, brother, cousins, friends and even his grandmother, according to Borst.

The verdict? He had this to say to us:

“GOD DAAAAAAAAAAAAMN. When they said it was hotter, no joke — it is hotter. I still love it, can’t get enough of it. I think everyone who were present enjoyed it too. So I’d say 8/8 m8.”

The return of Hot Devil Drumlets would mark the end to his year-long persistence, and the end to the crazy past couple of days since we brought his antics to light. Ever since we broke the story last week, the inspiring tale of determination in the name of fried chicken was picked up by a multitude of other international publications — including Perez HiltonMunchies and Metro. Borst, however, is taking his sudden fame day by day, he says.

“I don’t know how to react to (the buzz) and I’m still lost in that sense,” he says to Coconuts Singapore. “I find it kinda cool though — fried chicken brings everyone together”.

For now, the man will be enjoying fried chicken till the end of days, but his exploits have inspired others to remain dogged in their demands to call for the return other food items that’ve been lost in the annals of time. We ask him the next big thing he might want to campaign for a comeback.

“Let’s start with 7-11’s Mr Softee Chendol Ice Cream and McDonalds’ McCrispy,” he laughs. Word, brother, word.
