The latest in a line of never-ending cutesy themed cafes to land in Singapore — after Hello Kitty and Gudetama — My Melody is yet another Sanrio character to get her own space where fans (and their reluctant partners) can snap pics, nibble on food, and luxuriate in a lifelong strawberry-tinted fantasy come to life.

In case you’ve only seen the pink-hooded white rabbit but never knew what it stood for, apparently she’s “very honest and good natured,” “adores almond pound cake,” and, er, “treasures the hood her Grandma made,” according to her official profile on Sanrio. Right.

Anyhow, for the first time since My Melody made her debut in 1976, she’ll have her own cafe in Singapore. And with a theme like “Strawberry Paradise”, the garden setting will naturally be decorated with strawberries in every nook and cranny of the 38-seater space, which is embellished with a floral arch and a cottage house. Also look out for the mascot with a strawberry (naturally) and a pink-checkered bow on that famous Grandma-made hood.

On the menu, which offers a limited selection of five mains, six desserts, and seven beverages, one of the signature plates is the Princess Bunny ($18.90), basically Japanese curry rice turned kawaii with pink-tinged, My Melody-shaped rice made with beetroot, topped with chicken karaage, mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts, and carrots.

Additionally, there’s Little Pink Riding Hood ($23.90), with smoked salmon, ham, poached eggs, and a splash of pink Hollandaise sauce, or Hola Taco ($25) — bulgogi beef in taco shells, served with leafy greens, berries, and salsa.

Yes, berries. In a beef taco. You’re in My Melody’s world now, betch.

The sweet toothed among us can go for Treasures of Maryland ($19.50), a creation of maple syrup on brioche with strawberries, vanilla soft serve, strawberry sticks, and macarons stamped with the image of My Melody and her furry squirrel friend, Risu. Or Play Time Fondue ($22.50), an equally sugary-sounding confection of vanilla sponge cakes, butter cookies, and heart-shaped marshmallows with a dip of pink chocolate fondue.

As for the drinks — which, based on their description, can probably double up as desserts — On Cloud Nine ($8.90) is a blend of mixed berry tea with mint leaves, fresh strawberries, a macaron, and a swirl of cotton candy, while Merry-Donut-Go-Round ($12.90) is a strawberry milkshake topped with a white chocolate frosted donut and pink sprinkles.
