An iconic Japanese ramen chain is on its way to Singapore, and you’d best prepare for the ridiculous queues before they start assembling. Ichiran, famous for its tonkotsu ramen (and long lines of eager customers), will set up a stall at the third edition of Ramen Revolution this October.

The annual fest features ramen restos, and it’s part of the Japan Food Matsuri at Takashimaya Square, which will see booths sell everything from sushi and seafood to wagyu and cream puffs.

With its origins in Fukuoka in the ’60s, Ichiran is known for its rich, pork bone broth and its signature spicy sauce.

Be warned, though. The eatery’s run here will only offer 700 bowls each day, so eat early to avoid disappointment. Each order goes for $12, but don’t expect to see the original, as there won’t be fresh noodles or the usual slices of chashu. Rather, Ichiran will use instant ramen and serve it with mushrooms and green onions.

Still, it could be worth the wait, especially if you’ve always wanted to experience the Ichiran way of dining in solitude. Oh, and those who miss out on the last bowl of ramen can bring home a box of instant noodles instead. Two hundreds boxes are on sale daily, and each one contains three packets for $35.
