“Free” and “ice cream” has got to be some of our favorite words in the dictionary. But combine them together, and they’re gold.
It seems hawkers aren’t the only old-school eateries going digital — ice cream uncles are also moving towards a cashless society, and this weekend, they’re getting by with a little help from F&N Creameries and travel activity booking site Klook.
From Friday to Sunday, between 2pm to 6pm, there’ll be 2,700 free ice cream sandwiches up for grabs, for anyone to redeem from three Magnolia ice cream uncles — just look for the snaking queues along Orchard Road to spot one. There’s Uncle Tan outside Ion Orchard, Uncle Chan by Wisma Atria, and Uncle Ang near Mandarin Gallery.
To get your complimentary ice cream sandwich, you’ll have to download the Klook app, add an ice cream from any of the uncles into your cart, and check out with the promo code, “HELLOUNCLE”. That’s pretty much it.
But take note that the frozen treats are limited to 300 vouchers per uncle per day, so if you’re strolling down the stretch at night, it’s probably too late by then.
