In an unexpected twist of Gong Cha-LiHO proportions, Spanish frozen yogurt chain llaollao put up a Facebook post last night to clarify a couple things about its sudden withdrawal from Singapore and add that it’s “far from finished” here.

If you’re not yet caught up on the froyo drama, here’s a quick recap. Basically, the popular brand saw all its 29 outlets here abruptly closed and quickly replaced by another frozen yogurt brand, Yolé, just days later.

According to llaollao, the closure and subsequent reopening — which was “unilaterally decided” by master franchisee D+1 Holding — was “very disappointing” for the brand after years of laying groundwork in Singapore.

The brand added that it has “absolutely nothing to do with Yolé”, explaining that it’s a “totally new brand in the frozen yogurt market that does not exist in Europe, even though it has been advertised as such“.

Looks like the claws are out. Who knew the froyo business could be so… cold (badum-tush).

But the good news is, llaollao ended the post on a positive note — hardcore fans can rest easy knowing that the froyo chain will be working to return with new stores soon, “much sooner than you can expect”.

Stay tuned, people.
