Antoinette’s new line of ‘couture cakes’ takes inspiration from famous fashion icons

Always evolving and experimenting, Antoinette’s latest line of cakes get the haute couture treatment, (very loosely) inspired by fashion icons like Coco Chanel and Issey Miyake. Not sure if they’ll get the Anna Wintour stamp of approval, but the desserts are, as usual, crafted in the patisserie’s beautifully sleek style.

As an homage to Chanel No. 5, Chocolat No. 5 spotlights dark chocolate from France and Belgium with chocolate sponge coated in almond hazelnut feuilletine, light chocolate ganache, chocolate chiffon cake, and chocolate creme Chantilly. It’s a lot more decadent than the iconic floral fragrance, but hey, chocolate’s just as classic as Chanel, right?

Billed as a go-to for the fashionista who wants to have her cake and eat it too, Haute Cafe is a diet-friendly confection made of roasted coffee beans, sugar-free chocolate, and Maltitol (a sugar substitute), with espresso chocolate sponge and coffee-infused chocolate mousse, plus flakes of 24K gold leaf from French for that subtle shine.

As for Cheese Please — it’s a tribute to Issey Miyake’s Pleats Please edit, recreating the aesthetic with funky geometric lines on a cheesecake that’s both sweet and savory. The mousse is a blend of cheddar cheese, cream cheese, and parmesan, layered with almond shortbread, and topped with apricot jelly.

Then there’s the Nude cake, which we assume was influenced by the #IWokeUpLikeThis “natural” makeup trend. Coconut creme Chantilly and finger sponge with sea salt caramel parfait is ensconced in a mousse made of passion fruit, mango, pineapple, and lime, colored with vibrant hues for a tropical, summery look.

You can get them at both Antoinette outlets, in petite and plus sizes.

There’s also a new drink called the Prescription ($14), which is served as a DIY medicine set: Yuzu ice and grass jelly cubes that you mix in with hojicha latte and and Okinawan black sugar syrup for a sweet spell.
