A 40-year-old woman has died after getting hit by a trailer truck on Wednesday afternoon at Santiago City in Isabela, ABS-CBN News reported today.

The victim was identified as businesswoman Harjit Kaur, an Indian national.

According to the police, the victim was riding a motorcycle when she was hit by a trailer truck that was overtaking along the national highway of Barangay (Village) Mabini.

Her body reportedly got caught and dragged underneath the truck for about 50 meters which caused it to be pulled apart.

ABS-CBN News reported that Kaur’s family mourned only half of her body.

The truck driver, Ryan Casino, was arrested after the incident. He admitted that he didn’t immediately see Kaur on the road.

He asked for forgiveness from the victim’s family. “I didn’t want that to happen,” Casino said in Filipino.

He was charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. The victim’s family is, however, open to having an amicable settlement with Casino.

Kaur was survived by her husband and two children.
