Even a wooden skewer can be a weapon.

A woman was injured and bloodied after a thief allegedly stabbed her face with a wooden skewer last night on NIA Road in Quezon City.

The suspect was identified as Mark Reyes, who just got out of jail two hours prior to the alleged crime, ABS-CBN News’ Umagang Kay Ganda reported.

According to the unidentified victim, she was waiting for a public utility van so she can go home to Novaliches, Quezon City. She said that while she was waiting, Reyes allegedly stabbed her face with the skewer and stole her cellphone and bag.

“He said, ‘Give me your money, your cellphone. Don’t fight back [or] I’ll kill you!” the victim said in Filipino on ABS-CBN News’ Umagang Kay Ganda.

Reyes also allegedly kissed and groped the victim, Radyo Inquirer reported.

Residents in the area rushed to help the victim and beat Reyes up. This led to the suspect’s arrest.

Reyes said he tried to rob the victim because he needed money to go home to his province.

It was found out that Reyes was arrested in July 2018 for alleged robbery.

The victim’s items were recovered, and Reyes is now back behind bars.
