A woman died today after a tree fell on top of her house in Quezon City amid the pouring rain.
The victim has been identified as Omaira Macapudi, who was sleeping inside her house in Barangay (village) UP Campus when the tragedy occurred, reported Radyo Inquirer.
According to her neighbor and friend Beth de la Rosa, the tree fell on Macapudi’s home at around 4:30am during a rainstorm, reported radio station DZMM. The victim died from a massive head injury.
Macapudi was sleeping with her husband and two children who were left unharmed, reported Bombo Radyo.
The state weather bureau announced that as of 10am today, there is a low-pressure area located south of Luzon that is expected to develop into a tropical depression within the next 48 hours. Monsoon rains are expected to continue for the next 24 hours over Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Mindoro.
Many schools and offices have suspended classes and operations today due to the inclement weather.
