Facebook user Lala Iglesia shared videos earlier today of a man who was seen dragging a tired-looking puppy with a bloody wound on its head in San Joaquin, Pasig City.
She shares in her post that she and her sister were on the way to a grocery store in San Joaquin yesterday afternoon when they saw the unidentified man with the puppy.
She says that the puppy “couldn’t move any further due to fatigue.” She added that the pup had a head injury, but was unsure how the animal got it.
In one of the videos, it shows the man dragging his frail white puppy behind him near a gas station. “Stop it!” Iglesia exclaims in Filipino. She asked help from passersby off cam, but nobody came to her aid.
Another video shows the unidentified man finally carrying the puppy, but that didn’t ease the woman’s mind.
“We tried to get help from people who were looking, but they didn’t do anything. They just looked on,” she added in the post in Filipino.
She stated that the man threatened to stab them if they take the pup away from him. This prompted her to approach some Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) officers for help, but they chose not to get involved.
She then asked some barangay (village) officers to help her rescue the animal but they failed the find the man.
She called on the public to share the video to identify the man and save the pup’s life.
The videos had a total of 60,000 views and over 920 shares as of this article’s posting. Netizens were alarmed by what occurred.
“Poor puppy,” wrote Facebook user Michael Suarez.
“I hope he goes to jail,” wrote Marizel Cayunda.
“Son of a bitch! I’d take pleasure in beating him up!” said Facebook user Ian Velasco. “The people were just looking, they didn’t even tell him off?”
“No one helped us get the puppy. Everyone was just looking as if they were watching a movie. They’re cowards!” replied Iglesia.
“Please help [the dog],” urged Bonna Panganiban.
“This makes me so mad,” J-a R. Avelino wrote.
Ainos Allives Nosyas added: “This makes me cry, I can’t look, I feel too bad for the dog.”
