Two restaurant employees, two passersby injured in Makati gas tank explosion

Two restaurant employees and two passersby sustained injuries when a tank of liquefied petroleum gas exploded inside a restaurant in San Antonio Village, Makati City on Thursday night.

Makati police said the blast, caused by a gas leak, occurred at around 8:40pm in Judianchuanba restaurant along Yakal Street. The explosion shattered the restaurant’s windows, with shards of broken glass spilling into the streets, CNN Philippines reports.

The restaurant was already closed at the time of the explosion, according to ABS-CBN News, and authorities identified the injured kitchen workers as Zhang Liang, 37, and Cao Yue Qzang, 45, both Chinese nationals. Both were rushed to the Makati Medical Center, with Zhang sustaining head wounds, and Cao being admitted to the intensive care unit with unspecified injuries.

Two other unnamed victims injured in the blast, aged 26 and 27, were also rushed to the same hospital. Police said the two were walking down the street when the mishap occurred, the Manila Bulletin reports.
